FCRC Services
Family Support Specialists provide
families with emotional support, resources and community
connections. Family Support Specialist assist
families in organizing accommodations such as referrals
to Ronald
McDonald House and work closely with service providers
to help families with transportation and meal assistance,
if needed.
Books, videos and information prescriptions
on a variety of child health topics are available. Our Child
Health Information service offers staff assistance to
help you find credible and reliable information and answer
any questions.
Community Education Service offers
free education sessions for families and professionals
on a wide range of child health topics.
Sparkle and Jumpa the Therapeutic
Clowns bring laughter, joy and wonder to the children, youth
and families at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
The Child Health Computer Program
uses computers and other digital media to support the care
of children and families in the hospital by helping them
to connect with home, school, and friends.
An Aboriginal Liaison is available to welcome
and provide information and support for Aboriginal children
and families.
The Child and Youth Health Assistant provides
a wide range of child and youth activities, scrap booking,
special events and story time.
The Child and
Women’s Health Diversity Program works
to ensure quality care for families from diverse cultural
backgrounds. The Diversity Coordinator is available
to work with the clinical team regarding your child’s
health care experiences.
Family and Youth Engagement Program facilitates Family
to Family Connections where information, access to resources and child health
well being needs are shared between families. The program
also includes The
Child and Youth Advisory Council (CAYAC) which
helps develop and maintain a child and youth friendly environment
within our programs and services by giving a voice to children
and youth to be heard by service providers and policy makers
on issues regarding services, care and physical surroundings.
